Recent research from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine found that nearly one in three adults between the ages of 18 and 35 did not visit a dentist within the past year. Cost, busy schedules, and losing dental insurance after leaving school or a parent’s plan are among the most common reasons.

Unfortunately, waiting until something hurts can allow small problems to become larger ones. Many oral health issues—including gum disease, infections, and impacted wisdom teeth—often begin quietly and may not cause noticeable symptoms right away.
Regular dental exams help identify these issues early, when treatment is usually simpler and recovery is easier. Dentists and oral surgeons also look for signs of conditions that may not be obvious to patients, including cysts, jaw problems, and early indicators of oral cancer.
If it has been a while since your last dental visit, scheduling a routine check-up is one of the simplest steps you can take to protect your long-term oral health.
